چکیده

We have compiled two new Galactic open cluster catalogues. The first one has 119 objects with age, distance and metallicity data, while the second one has 144 objects with both absolute proper motion and radial velocity data, of which 45 clusters also with metallicity data available. An iron radial gradient of about −0.063±0.008 dex kpc−1 is obtained from our sample. By dividing clusters into age groups, we show that iron gradient was steeper in the past. A disk age-metallicity relation could very probably exist based on the current sample.

On the Galactic Disk Metallicity Distribution from Open Clusters I. New Catalogues and Abundance Gradient

In this paper we have compiled two new open cluster catalogues. In the first one, there are 119 objects with ages, distances and metallicities available, while in the second one, 144 objects have both absolute proper motion and radial velocity data, of which 45 clusters also with metallicity data available. Taking advantages of the large number of objects included in our sample, we present an i...

Globular clusters within 5 ◦ of the Galactic center ?

In the recent years we have concentrated efforts to collect Colour-Magnitude Diagrams of the globular clusters projected in the central parts of the Galaxy. So far we were able to gather photometric data in the V, I and Gunn z bandpasses, for 16 out of the 17 known clusters in the central 5◦ radius, most of them severely reddened. Reddening, distance and metallicity are estimated from the horiz...

The orbits of open clusters in the Galaxy

We present and analyze kinematics and orbits for a sample of 488 open clusters in the Galaxy. The velocity ellipsoid for our present sample is derived as (σU , σV , σW )=(28.7, 15.8, 11.0) km s which represents a young thin disc population. We also confirm that the velocity dispersions increase with the age of cluster subsample. The orbits of open clusters are calculated with three Galactic gra...

Substructure in the Globular Cluster System of the Milky Way: The Highest-Metallicity Clusters

An analysis of the kinematical and spatial properties of the highestmetallicity globular clusters in the Galaxy, having metallicities of [Fe/H] > −0.8, indicates that these objects do not comprise a homogeneous population. Three subsystems are identified among these clusters. i) The highest-mass clusters with log(M/M⊙) > 5.5 exhibit a very slow net rotation with a speed of vrot = 24± 23 km/s an...

Old Open Clusters as Tracers of Galactic Evolution A. Bragaglia and M. Tosi

1. Why (old) open clusters? Open clusters (OC's) are important to study the properties of the Galactic disk, since they offer information on ages, both absolute and relative, and on the metallicity evolution, both in space and time. In fact, OC's are found in different regions of the disk, cover a large interval in age (from a few Myr to about 10 Gyr) and in metallicity (Z=Z ⊙ /20 to supersolar...
